Reward Processing Alters the Time Perception Networks in Patients with Major Depressive Disorder

چکیده

Abstract Behavioral studies revealed that time perception is affected by the presence of a reward. Both experience and reward processing were shown to be distorted in major depressive disorder (MDD). We aimed investigate how neural correlates anticipation interact patients with MDD. Participants (17 healthy, seven MDD) performed task during fMRI scanning requires estimating speed moving rectangle which was briefly occluded. In control condition, participants attended change color tone rectangle. Half runs rewarded monetary payment per correctly done trial evaluate effect The data acquired 3T scanner analyzed repeated-measures analysis variance (ANOVA) using SPM12. activations related integration different between both groups supplementary motor area, intraparietal sulcus, thalamus, frontal eye field caudate nucleus. Increased coupling area caudate/putamen region timing found MDD more than controls. Overall, our findings suggest functional differences interaction occur via dysfunction cortico-striatal-thalamic network.

Major Depressive Disorder Alters Perception of Emotional Body Movements

Much recent research has shown an association between mood disorders and an altered emotion perception. However, these studies were conducted mainly with stimuli such as faces. This is the first study to examine possible differences in how people with major depressive disorder (MDD) and healthy controls perceive emotions expressed via body movements. Thirty patients with MDD and thirty healthy ...

Depressive rumination alters cortisol decline in Major Depressive Disorder.

Depressive rumination - a central characteristic of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) - is a maladaptive emotion regulation strategy that prolongs sad mood and depressive episodes. Considerable research demonstrates the emotional and behavioral consequences of depressive rumination, yet few studies investigate its effect on neuroendocrine functioning. The current study examined the effect of an e...

Reward processing after catecholamine depletion in unmedicated, remitted subjects with major depressive disorder.

BACKGROUND We investigated whether performance on a reward processing task differs between fully remitted patients with major depressive disorder (MDD) and healthy control subjects after catecholamine depletion. METHODS Seventeen unmedicated subjects with remitted MDD (RMDD) and 13 healthy control subjects underwent catecholamine depletion with oral alpha-methyl-para-tyrosine (AMPT) in a rand...

Patients with major depressive disorder exhibit reduced reward size coding in the striatum

BACKGROUND Anhedonia is a core symptom of major depressive disorder (MDD). While recent evidence suggests that reduced motivation for reward may be a core feature of anhedonia, the abnormalities in modulatory neural responses to variable reward amounts in MDD patients remain unclear. We investigated whether MDD patients' ability to represent variable-sized monetary rewards in the striatum is di...
